Hey! I’m Piet, a freelance designer and developer.

Based in Berlin, I love working on too many side projects and founded different businesses.

Now: Working on a non-shitty GoodReads together with Founders

Freelance Work

I've had the pleasure to work with many different clients over the last ten years, small to big, designing everything from websites to apps, developing and prototyping concepts, coding landing pages and shops.

I’ve worked in the role of a developer and technical director but also as a design lead and art director.

  • This year I redesigned the website of the venture studio Founders and helped out clients like Red Bull and Deutsche Bahn with frontend development.

  • I've been working a lot with MoreSleep and Freunde von Freunden, mostly as the lead frontend developer for projects including MOHAB, Swayed, Internetstores, Ørgreen Optics, wefox, Canyon Bicycles, or Hotel Berlin or as a designer for Mauermuseum Berlin.

  • I’ve directly worked with brands like H&M and Zwilling J.A. Henckels to strategize and design their e-commerce experiences.

  • For more than a year, I’ve worked as a freelance product designer for the medical supplementation start up Baze Labs, redesigning their mobile app, parts of the website, marketing materials, and building a digital design system to help shape the brand and business.

  • I grew the sales and customer base of direct-to-consumer skincare brand Friedman Berlin by constantly improving the UX of their Shopify store.

  • With Think Moto, I developed a new website for the tech- and design university HTWG Konstanz.

  • I designed and developed a portfolio for my video editing friend Marvin Kühner, directed the brand identity and website for artist management TiQuest and created the website for video production Pink Pony Pictures.

Projects

  • What started as a way for me to save personal inspiration grew to a well-known web design gallery. Since 2013, I’m running and curating the Minimal Gallery, an online gallery to showcase the best web design.

  • I created Fuck I Wish I Knew That in 2017, which to this day is a little link list to easily share my favorite articles, books or videos.

  • In 2016, I co-founded Space9 with a friend. We offer a simple allround service for VR-tours, from planning the shoot over post production to a hosted & customized online experience.

  • This year I launched Some Supply, a curated shopping platform for well-designed and high-quality products.

  • In 2018, I co-founded the social travel platform Rave, creating a solution for better travel recommendations. Among other things, we developed the beta of an iPhone app, threw a launch event for beta users and had partnerships with different journalists and travel bloggers. We stopped work end of 2019.

  • Together with two friends I run the small streetwear brand Munchies Club since 2016, publishing a collection once a year and producing and retailing locally in Berlin.

  • In 2016 I co-founded Sherpa Healthcare, a digital health record system for doctors and patients, that we eventually ended in 2018.

  • In 2017, together with my friend Jonas Friedrich I started working on a line of minimal products, starting out with a high-quality watch.

  • Since day one I'm an advisor for The Flying Dutchman, one of the first brands for CBD products in Germany.

Notes & Recognition

  • Among others, my work has been awarded by Awwwards, Mindsparkle Mag and Red Dot and featured on SiteInspire, One Page Love, The Gallery and klikkenthéke.

  • I'm self-taught.

  • Based in Berlin, I'm mostly switching between working on-site, from home or different friend's offices. I was part of the freelance group The Good Life Collective for the last few years.

  • Depending on the project, I like to partner up with selected freelancers on a regular basis, so it’s possible to offer a wide range of expertise specifically tailored to each project.

  • This is a small studio and I only rarely offer internships or full-time positions. But it doesn't hurt sending me your portfolio - I might be looking for your specific skillset in the future or know a company that is.
